Facebook In The News: It’s more than just privacy issues

I seem to have a bad case of writer’s block lately. When I do think of a blog topic, and I don’t sit down and write right then, the idea is gone later. Facebook, as usual, seems to have been in the news a lot lately. Lately though, it has been for more than just privacy issues although Facebook executives are taking heat in privacy hearings in the senate.

With LinkedIn coming out with an IPO, the folks at CNN are wondering what this means for Facebook and the rest of what they consider to be the big four: Twitter, Zynga, and Groupon (What LinkedIn means for Facebook IPO). Personally, I don’t think I’d buy stock in some of these companies myself, but that’s a personal bias.

Fox News posted earlier today that Facebook is adding the ability to scan photos for child pornography matching them to photos in the database for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Facebook Adds Software to Police for Child Porn Note, this is probably the only time you will ever see me post/quote Fox News.

Finally, Google has once again raised Facebook’s ire by using Facebook’s data in their new Social Search. (Google Rolls out Social Search in 19 Languages)
